I too went .308. I too would have preferred the Elite with the more adjustable stock. As far as calibre, if I hadn't stayed with the Col's design I would have gone with the Creedmoor. There may be less expensive scout forms that do .223 almost as good as a Steyr scout.I like my scout. Went with .308 just as Jeff Cooper recommended. But it's light and accurate.
I should have bought the Elite, though. The stock is nicer, but you lose the extra ammo storage. I read somewhere civilian and military security personnel like to use them..?
