When did Steyr changeover from the M40 to the M40-A1?

    What year did it happen? I am curious to know how "new" the M40-A1's are compared to the original M40's.

    around 2004 IIRC

    for most parts believe its just the new polymer frame. may have changed specs over other parts sure most parts interchange.

    OK - but is that the year that they were starting to be imported? I thought I read somewhere else that they were embargoed or something for a while. Can't remember the details too much.

    To the best of my knowledge the original M was imported from 99-02 by GSI in Trussville, AL and there was a gap until 2004 when Steyr USA got started in Cumming, GA and the M-A1 followed shortly there after. Don't hold me to that; but that's the truth as I know it.
