Since our little corner of the internet has appeared to be dead lately, I thought I'd tried to liven things up a bit with a poll. I'm curious what caliber my fellow Steyr Club members carry most often.

I'm sure a lot of you are like me and absolutely love your M or M-A1, but she isn't the pistol that gets to journey out the most. So, place your vote for MOST CARRIED caliber in your own personal arsenal. Also, feel free to post what your normal CCW piece is.

Lets try to keep it honest - this isn't a "What is your FAVORITE caliber poll" - .40 isn't my absolute favorite, but that is what I have strapped to my back most often when I'm out and about. Also, lets try not to start any caliber wars - we all recognize the futility of such disputes.

So for starters, my normal carry piece is a .40 Sig Mauser M2 - I can't say enough about how amazing this little bargain pistol is. My only gripe is that she's a bit bulky. In 6+ weeks when my Blade-Tech arrives, she will be replaced by my M9A1, but for now .40 is my vote.

I ALMOST have to vote .380 - when I'm at work, my Bersa Thunder is usually by my side for comfort reasons.

Hopefully this thead will bring some much needed life back to the forums!

Used to be 45. now it's 40. I carry my Steyr at work close to 60 hours a week. plus off duty.
I can't carry anything other than qualified weapons. I qualified with my M and MA1

I checked "other" since I most often carry my Makarov in 9x18, 8+1 with an extra 8 rd mag. I'm pretty accurate with it, the caliber will get the job done if need be, and it's concealable with a wide variety of clothing. And with my HBE holster, it's quite comfortable to carry.

The M9 pulls nightstand duty since it has higher capacity and night sites. When I get the $$$ I will get a decent holster for concealed carry and will probably pack it when the weather gets cool again in the fall. Unless I decide to go with a .45 like a G30/36. Decisions, decisions... but in the mean time, I don't feel under-armed with the Mak. 8)

I feel fine with 9. It's in my everyday carry Rohrbaugh R9s with 6 rds. to spare in the pocket and my occasinal carry S9 with a 10 rd. mag and 14 rd. extra mag. If I need to go to deep concealment...my Seecamp 32 is there. A 380 will be on order as soon as I can convince myself there is a need......ok I'm convinced.
I can't believe how comfortable I feel with a gun on my person and how
UN-comfortable I am without. Caliber dosen't mean as much to me as
having SOMETHING that will reach out further than my arm will if self defense is needed. All I want is to gain the time to beat feet with loved ones in tow and we'll work out the details later.

I've had or have all the calibers imaginable (like a lot of guys) and have carried most of them.

The past year plus, it's back to 9mm with the M9 and now the G19. When I go really light, it's a NAA Mini Mag .22Mag.

For me, I shoot 9mm with low muzzle flash and high quality JHP ammo and a lot of rounds in the mag(s). I also know that .45ACP make a larger hole.

S9 for IWB carry, M9 on the nightstand. Thinking about a Kahr PM9 for pocket carry. Sometimes carry the M9 in the ultimate metrosexual mode-a leather shoulder bag. Talk about your urban camo-- walk softly, carry the big stick.

9mm

I'm with Hedrok - Rohrbaugh R9 always in my pocket, S9 tags along most of the time when I leave the house. Always an extra mag for whichever/both. The R9 with 115 gr. GDs, the S9 with 124 +P GDs, either will get the job done in almost any situation I'll find myself in.

ccw arm

carry a glock 27 only because i bought it CHEAP from one of my son's so it's the carry weapon. 8)

wouldn't mind an s-9 but the one i had my eye on has had the price go up due to dealer greed. i'll buy something new before paying his inflated price.

I'm in the same boat as you, aubie515 - my USPc .45 sits at home with a M6X strapped to it. I did order a Comp-Tac the other day for it, so I might start carrying her, bu tI"m starting to feel like a fullsize would have been a better investment, since I rarely carry it. Maybe that will change once I get the holster.

Then I will have to decide M9A1/BladeTech or USPc.45/Comp-Tac. I have a feeling the Steyr will win out, since I don't want to ruin the SS finish on my USPc's slide.

Hmmm... :?

Toss up, kinda, but hedgin' closer to the M357-A1 sporting 125 GR Speer 38 SPL JHP's. Carried the Walther P99 40SW/180 GR JHP combo for a couple years, but the more I've worked with the heavier than 125 GR component bullets for the 357 SIG, the more I feel comfort with them and look forward to a 135-150 GR JHP movin' at 1350-1400 fps from a 3.5" bbl. In the very short future, I hope to have an S40-A1 with 11 or 12 rounds of 165 GR JHP's or an S357-A1 with some wicked 140 GR JHP's. Time will tell.

Mostly G30 on the hip or in the bag.....otherwise its the M9 on the hip. Like the USP 45 on the bedside with SureFire light. Big and easy to rack the slide at night..........
