Trigger Shotgun Gun barrel Machine gun Air gun

I just mounted a Trijicon TR24 Accupoint 1-4x 24 LPVO on my AUG A3 M1. This is my first LPVO, and all I can say is “Wow!”

I have been using red dots for over 20 years and have experience with ACOGs from the military. I’ve never used an LPVO before. I assumed a red dot was best for my intended purposes (home defense/ LEO), so never bothered with one. In the last couple of years, however, I’ve become farsighted (over 50) and with astigmatism my red dots look more like commas or stars. So, I wanted to give an LPVO a try.

I chose the TR24 because it’s lightweight and I thought I’d like the triangle reticle. I can’t believe what I’ve been missing. The eye box on this scope is so huge and forgiving that I can’t imagine being any slower with it at close range. I can even use it with my arms fully extended and my head nowhere near aligned with the scope. I’ve tried the reticle indoor and out in various lighting, and can always pick up the reticle. I really like the post under the triangle because it draws my eye to the triangle.

I can’t wait to try it out live fire. So far, I’m super impressed and wish I had gotten one sooner. Best of all, the reticle is perfectly clear and sharp.

Thanks. I’ve also done the math with the holdovers for the triangle reticle, and came to just about the same conclusions as you (though not as nicely done). I’ve already installed the Steyr springs and 2020 sear along with an Arid trigger. I rate it at better than a GI M4 trigger. Honestly, I don’t think the Arid trigger does a whole lot, but I really love the safety that comes with it.

I took it to the range twice so far and put about 250 rounds through it. I had two failures to eject during the first 40 rounds. I took it home, cleaned it really well (I only lubed it when I got it), set the gas plug to the “adverse” setting and shot about 170 through it with no issues. Then I set it back to “normal” and fired another 40 rounds with no problems.

I really like the TR24. It was definitely as fast as a red dot for me. I have astigmatism, so I really appreciated the sharp reticle. At 1x the scope just disappears, and I can pick up the triangle while the scope is entering my vision during presentation. I was really impressed. Once the weather improves, I’ll take it to an outdoor range and see how I like it at distance.
