I recall years ago that those funny notches on the front of the frame of the M-Series pistols was to accommodate the use of accessories. I was wondering if there are any tactical accessories that are compatible with the older mounting system. I was considering getting the Springfield M2L to mount on my gun. Any help would be greatly appreciated... :)

  3. When the original M-series (the first previous firearm produced before the MA1) came out everyone had their own rail system.

The Steyr M-series of pistols like early H&K pistols requires an adapter that secures to the pistol and will then accept accessories available. The adapter secures to the two notches and then sits below the pistol so your lights and whatnot sit a little lower than they would on an MA1.

When I purchased my adapter for my M40 it was back when they had the Steyr USA website selling them, but I'm sure you can find one by making a single phone call to Steyr Arms today.
