I just purchased a used model L in generally great condition BUT ONE BIG PROBLEM. THE SAFETY IS SO STIFF IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO OPERATE. The safety will go to OFF quite well and it will move with hard but tolerable force when the bolt is out, but with the bolt in the button will only go to the safe position with excessive force. I have sprayed it with cleaner in all reachable parts, let it drip out and lubricated it. Does not help, can find no cause but have not disassembled the bolt or trigger mechanism, as I don't know where to start. No gunsmiths around here. Has anyone done this or has some advice. Thanking you in advance. Keith

And, does it have the dbl set triggers?

Lit'l more info, plz.

If you're in The States, maybe just send it to SAI for repair.

Hiya Keith :)

I just got this reply in an email from our contact across The Pond in Austria:

A Friend Across The Pond said:
Wulf,

Thank you. I hope you are well too.
The problem sounds strange...anyhow, in Canada
FritZ Matti (Maatiarms) is a good one. Our Distributor is
North Sylva and you also can try O'Dell Engineering....
So, these are good starting places for you to check out.

Plz keep us in the loop.

G'luck, Bro.

Wulf <-- really appreciates our Steyr friends across The Pond

Keith, What did you find with the rifle? I have a Model "L" in 308 caliber doing the exact same thing
