I just purchased a used model L in generally great condition BUT ONE BIG PROBLEM. THE SAFETY IS SO STIFF IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO OPERATE. The safety will go to OFF quite well and it will move with hard but tolerable force when the bolt is out, but with the bolt in the button will only go to the safe position with excessive force. I have sprayed it with cleaner in all reachable parts, let it drip out and lubricated it. Does not help, can find no cause but have not disassembled the bolt or trigger mechanism, as I don't know where to start. No gunsmiths around here. Has anyone done this or has some advice. Thanking you in advance. Keith

    Hiya Keith :)

    What cartridge? ... 243 Win...30-06...270 Win...?

And, does it have the dbl set triggers?

    Lit'l more info, plz.

If you're in The States, maybe just send it to SAI for repair.

Keep us in the loop.

Wulf <-- would prolly send it to Jeff at SAI for the repair <shrug>

The Steyr Mannlicher L is a .243 with single trigger. I am in Canada so shippind to U.S. is not usually an option. It used to be before all concerns about terror.

Keith, What did you find with the rifle? I have a Model "L" in 308 caliber doing the exact same thing
