Good day, new member here, Was out shooting my Gen 1 M40 yesterday and the slide locked to the rear, I was able to free it up and it did it again. I disassembled the gun and found that the barrel is bulged in front of the chamber.
My son and I were shooting ball factory ammo, my son was shooting his FN put of the same box with no problems.
Anybody else heard of this? Im sick because I can buy another used M40 cheaper than steyr wants for a barrel.
Anybody got a m40 barrel?

It sounds like an under load/primer only squid round. Then the squid round got pushed out by the following round.
good luck in getting a used barrel. eBay and gun broker is your best chance. Classify here is 3rd best option.

That's what I ended sb up doing. I bought one last night. Looking forward to shooting it. Just hate to add another caliber, im heavily invested in 40&45

I have a recently acquired Gen1 M40 (my understanding is that it is either unfired or has a very low round count) that I would consider selling. I saw the new L9-A2 with the OD Green frame, and I think I need one. Let me know if you are interested.
