What do you guys make of this? No optics cut slides but they’ll be offering aftermarket optics soon? Does that mean they aren’t going to offer any actual way to mount an optic? Maybe I’m interpreting this the wrong way lol

I’m not sure, Steyr is hard to get information from. I was told they would sell frames awhile back, still none, actually worse now the frames are serialized. I have also been told they will sell extra slides, but that hasn’t come yet either. I believe they said optics ready would be the next generation. I’m going to guess maybe they will offer a milling service for aftermarket optics? But I am not sure. Here is why, he says aftermarket so maybe not a from factory milled slide. Unless he is saying they will use a dovetail mount there really isn’t another way to offer a optic and not mill it.

Ok so I think it’s safe to say that they are releasing their own optic that will mount to the slide via the dove tail as that’s the only thing that makes sense to me if they’re releasing a optic that mounts to the current slide

Well that is a bummer. After seeing the performance of other dovetail sleds, I’m not impressed with the concept.
That already exists I bought one from outerimpact.com
It does exist already but Steyr initially made it sound like maybe a optics ready slide. Now moving to this is a bit of a bummer. I think they are offering a factory option to try and stay relevant in a optics ready standard market place. It’s a bummer since a optics ready cut is doable and would be a nice addition. Also the slide design like on the BB slide was not great.

yea but it sits past the chamfered edges and looks tacky. they said mid 2023 for an optic that would mount to the current slide so I'm hoping that it would at the very least be very minimalistic and flush/secure to the slide at the same time.
There is this option. I like mine very much. Looks integrated.

It suck’s they won’t make at least get an optics ready slide. If some company like GGP or Apex took on the task I am sure that it would pretty awesome. Until that happens I guess I will use my other red dot equipped pistols if I go open class. It’s too bad since I shoot the Steyr pistols the quickest.
There are a few companies that will cut optics for it currently, but it is sad that Steyr will no do the work. Last when I spoke to them they said it would not come until the next generation, which is going to be a wait. Problem with Steyr is they will not put the effort to make a good pistol into a great one. Some accessories and work with aftermarket companies and pushing the modularity with a optics cut would help a lot
