Haven’t shot my M9a1 in 5 or so years and decided to field strip and clean it today - but when I went to remove the slide it won’t move forward.

1. I push the release lever button, and turn the release lever all the way down

2. At this point the slide should move forward and easily come off, but it doesn’t

Any suggestions or tricks to work it loose?

I got it off. I don’t remember having to do #3 in the past but could be my memory.

1. I racked, pulled the trigger
2. I turned the lever down
3. Pulled the trigger and HELD it
4. Slid the slide back just slightly, then forward and it slid right off.

Sounds like you need to discahrge the trigger (after checking for unloaded). To remove the slide push the lock in and turn the lever but like the Glock it needs to be discharged before it will come off.
