Does anyone have a listing of manufacture dates by serial number range? If not, has anyone ever tried getting their mfg date from Steyr?

Ok, got e'm out of the safe and unloaded...

my M40 serial 0186** was produced 5/00

the M was purchased in 7/04 from cdnn. (my first gun)

my S9 serial 0343** on 11/01

the S was purchased 11/04 from davidson's.

to check the date look on the inside of your frame by where the metal plate w/ serial # is.there is a bunch of number that i have no idea what they mean and a little clock/dial w/ hand ppoiting to month (1-12) and 99, 00, 01, 02 etc inside the ring.

there is also a little recycle symbol (three arrows in a triangle), does this mean if i don't want my gun i can throw the frame in the green bin to be picked up on Mon 8O 8O 8O ? or are they made from at least 35% post consumer recyled plastic???? not sure which is worse :?

thinking about the numbers i put up...

18 months 16,000 guns?? was steyr producing that many pistols???

where did they all go, are those serial number for worldwide, are there more in europe than in US?

what i would love to see the diagram for is the trend of how many steyr m/s put on the streets in the US by year.

I'd suspect a sharp spike in the last year, both from cdnn's closout and word of mouth/net from people like us (there's been no articles/advertising since they were the "newest" guns out there).

similarly we know the MA1's have been being bought up as fast as they get in country, none of the major distrubters can keep them in stock for long. How many is that really though (scores or thousands a month)??? can it be that many, considering mine sat for three years before making it onto the street, or has the demand picked up that much??

m9 date

My M9 is an 028** and was made in 11/01...bought it new in Dec 2003.

Heading to the range today with a buddy :D ....gonna test out some dif ammo brands...UMC, WWB, blazer alum and brass...and since i have it...gonna see if my M9 is one of the few that can stomach wolf :? ....wish me luck.....wolf goes last!.....for obvious reasons.....

range report will follow....unless plans fall through somehow...

Interesting.....

My M9's SN is in the high 026's, bought from CDNN in December '04 (I believe)

My S9 is in the mid 034's, bought from a local dealer in March '05.

BOTH were manufactured in Nov '01!

Awww....like long-lost brothers......:);)

The little clock like symbol is the actual frame casting/molding date , the serial may have been added later depend on when the polymer frame was going to be finally used to assemble a complete frame/firearm . My M357 was made in Jan 2002
