Can anyone recommend a gunsmith familiar with the SBS? Thanks!
Where are you located? I know a shop in Birmingham, Alabama, where the smith is an SBS shooter.
I am in New York and there is no one around here at all, so location makes no difference as I would have to send the gun anyway.
Give these guys a call and see if they do the work you are looking for:
Simmons Sporting Goods
2001 Second Avenue North
Bessemer, Alabama 35020
You might also call:
Steyr Arms Inc.
5977 Steeplechase Blvd.
Cummings, Ga 30040
They are/were the distributor for Steyr in the US, and do Steyr warranty work, UNLESS they have been canned by the new owners of Steyr. They just sold all their gun inventory to CDNN-- a great chance to pick up bargain prohunters!!
Hope this info helps. By the way, when you talk to the good ol boys at Simmons, just remember-- we talk slow down here, but we ain't stupid.
Another possible source of help:
Be sure to put Steyr SBS or something like that in your topic, he ignores generic greetings as spam.
He has a great website
which has lots of Steyr Scout info which also pertains to a lot of the parts of a Prohunter.
He lightened the bolt lift on both my prohunters-- they were the old ones with the stiff lift-- he swapped out the bolt cams-- now they lift with a finger instead of a fist.
