I am considering purchasing a full cap M40 mag for my S40 from what I have read it will work with out any problems. I would just like to make sure this is true and reliable as it would be the second mags for concealed carry..

Should be no problem whatsoever.

The catch mechanisms & mag sizes are the same except for overall length.

My M9 mags fit perfectly into my S9, for example. The bottom of the mag just sticks out a bit and looks silly, but it works 100% and I've shot several magfulls this way.

You'll be fine.

To my knowledge, it should work just fine. I however do not have practical experience with this. If it were me, I'd have no concerns ordering M40 mags for an S40.

then we gotta go shooting. S40 and M357 are the only ones I haven't shot.

now back to the subject. I prefer the M9 mag in My S9. I have FAT fingers and the S leaves a pinky dangling untill I put in a M mag. I only have one S9 mag and just ordered my second M9 mag (thought about modding one of my M40 ten rounders that don't see much use anymore to fit 9mm, but don't trust myself to do it.)

IMHO there's no reason to have more than one S mag, as the only benefit is to help conceal and your only going to conceal a pistol w/ one mag actually in it. For range practice and spare carry mags give me the extra rounds and pinky rest.
Even if you don't need the pinky rest why not have the extra rounds, especially if your ever in a situation where ten wasn't enough to start with.

LOL if your ever in a predicament that you would need more than 10 rounds. chances are you should have been where you were in the first place.

Seondly.. FLCHEF.. id be happy to hit up OCSS sometime when im over that way. Maybe i can get Bubba to come along. He lives over there. Sells alot of ammo in that area. the s40 will handle a m357 barrel. but it could use to be cut down to fit as far as barrel length. i considered it, but the 357sif barrel is too expensive to mess with and relatively hard to come by at any local retailer.. i have a total of 6 s40 magazines.. 1 is the bad apple. bought that many for the range.. i keep a mag of magsafe swat loads at bedside.. and a mag of Fed Hydrashoks CCW.

Your S40 will never know the difference. They are exactly the same in every way except the lenth.
