Hello Steyr Club members!
Those of you who own S40, S40-a1 or C40-a1 pistols, could you, please, measure the length of the slide in mm (or inches)? Measure along the upper edge as shown on the photo below and post which slide you measured and what number you got. This is my M40 slide for illustration purposes and it measures168 mm or 6 5/8 of an inch.
I am trying to establish if S40, S40-A1 and C40-A1 have the same length and what the exact length is. Thank you in advance.

The Gen 1 guns M9, m40. M357 . All have the same length slides.
Gen2,3,4 the A1 & the start of the S,C,M,L models
Are 0.25" 1/4" different in length S being the Smallest & L being the Largest
The Gen 5 ( MF ) Follow the previous generations in size .

Overall slide length millimeters & inches
C= 167.5mm /6.6"
S =( GEN 2&3 GUNS ONLY) =170mm /6.7" for the 40cal & 166.5mm /6.5" in 9mm
S= Gen 4, 170mm / 6.7"
M =176mm / 6.9"
L= 188.5mm /7.42"

Thank you for the details and exact numbers! I suspected that S in 40 cal is a touch longer than S in 9mm and you confirmed it.
