Got to shoot the M&P yesterday. I was curious how it compared to my Steyr. I liked the size of the pistol and the fit in my hand. It was light and had a higher bore axis. Shooting it was good, very accurate and the trigger was crisp and very short. It felt like about a 3 to 4# trigger. It did have a good amount of muzzle flip and I could feel the recoil in the web of my hand more then the Steyr, which was two other shooters opinions that also tried the pistol. The worst was a light strike on each 6 round mag I shoot with CCI Blazer 40cal. Primer was dented, no ignition.....I still prefer my Steyr, hands down, no contest. I just have a hard time shooting one big whole with my Steyr and I think it is the sights. and my unfamiliarity with traps. It could also be the trigger pounds, just a little too hard a pull. Still...............Steyr's rock.....second place for me Glock........

I remember reading that in some recent magazine that compared a M&P to a Glock 22 something about a trigger pull or reset on M&P, they had photos of groups shot with both guns and Glock was a bit more accurate.

how was the trigger copmared to a Steyr in weight and pull?

The trigger broke quickly, I would say lighter and shorter, with very little after travel and quick to reset. I felt the striker spring was too soft almost (light primer strikes??)....like the striker didn't eplode to the primer, but limped there. Steyr's striker "feels" like it flyes to the primer IMO.
It was a very nice trigger, better then Glock and except for that soft striker feel it was possibly better then Steyr's IMO, but overall, Steyr was still a better pistol. I would love to see a comparable length Steyr pistol........

I'm just glad that many are following Steyr's lead in producing better poly double action pistols with good ergos. I think Steyr is going to continue to set the example though that other will try to follow.
+one..........I hope they start opening up......the add in NRA is a good start......a 45cal would boost they're appeal to a segment of law enforcement that wants 45............

Hi Guys :)

Not to divert the post, but I have it on pretty good authority that the priority following the S40-A1 is indeed the M45ACP-A1 project. Go Steyr Go!!! :p I asked about double or single stacker, but couldn't get an answer at this time. Anyway, FYI.... Hava great 4th. :)
