The blackout or something substantial to make the battle rifle into a true sporting proposition is something I have wished for since the AUG came out in civilian form in the US. It would make me purchase one. But If it doesn't happen soon I will be out of luck. I AM retired and on a fixed budget. Steyr!, don't make me miss this opportunity please.

I hope I'm not a thread killer to reply to my own post. But a related question would be does anyone make these barrels aftermarket? I'm now warmed up to the idea of this gun as a semi and with both barrels.

I would be happy with any new development that brings some much deserved attention to the brand. I'm a pistol guy (M9 & M9A1), so would love to see a spotlight there, but really anything that puts Steyr more mainstream would be great for all of us that love this brand. And if ANYONE from Steyr is actually READING these threads: PLEASE make a Steyr shirt in 4x for this walrus sized guy! A shooting shirt would be even better! Free advertising at all the local shooting ranges I haunt! :)

I know of a AUG . That was biuld just for a Military that is in 7.62x39 .
I saw at one time Steyr was working on 300bk .
Im just wondering if they got it working a 100% ?
I think they can make it work, the problem is likely that the AUG doesn’t have the dwell time to make .300 Blk function in both super and subsonic, with and without a suppressor. In order to make it work, I suspect they will have to settle for supersonic with or without a suppressor, and subsonic with a suppressor only.

I would say for the US 80 percent that would buy an AUG in 300 BK would not use it with a suppressor so that would be OK with me. But I don't see why adding some length to the barrel 17.5 or 18.5 or changing where the gas piston is at with appropriate size holes should not make it function well on both sides.

16 inches is basically the point of diminishing returns with 300 BO. you also can’t really change the piston location without redesigning the whole gun.

I’d definitely be in line for a 300blk barrel, hopefully PJ puts together a pre order list if he hears back regarding when they will release them. Apparently they were released somewhere in a European police department according to someone on a different forum

I save money for my "projects" by not drinking or smoking. I had the money but spent it on an R25 in 308. Will set up an upper with a 358 Winchester barrel at some point. But I would have liked to get a 300 BO and the AUG in 223 together. Packy

I missed an upper on a classified in another forum I belong to. A 358 Winchester. I didn't have the lower yet and was waffling about whether and what it would fit. So I just plain missed. I think it was Accurate Reloading. Anyway I now have a definite model to go from. I don't think you have the government standards in the AR 10 like the 15. So no fits all items apply. Any way, be well. Packy
