What great people to speak with.

I just spoke with the Steyr Mannlicher Holding Company which is in the office today, while the Steyr Mannlicher production/firearms division is on holiday.

The gentleman who I have been corresponding with personally prefers the second version of the banner best, because it is easy to read. We discussed this further on the telephone.

We discussed what FN is offering to the U.S. market in terms of the FN2000 .223 rifle and how Steyr could occupy a market niche with the Aug and provide competition for other .223 caliber semi-auto sporting rifles. The gentleman assured me that they are actively pursuing a way to offer the Aug again to the U.S. market and are very interested in the U.S., thanks in part to the active online community and club. Part of their
seriousness can be seen with them establishing a U.S. office and division, Steyr Mannlicher USA. They also have litigators and lawyers on the case, too. Let's keep our fingers crossed on this one!

For those of you who are wondering about the activities of a Holding company, Steyr Mannlicher as we know it is an Arms production firm. But, it is also very diverse and is active in other fields as well. Take a look at the Steyr Puch G class.
The Holding Company basically owns the assets and securities of the Steyr firearms production division, as they produce a product, along with any other firm that is under the "Steyr corporate umbrella" that produces a product or offers services for sale. The holding company will also have voting control which allows them to appoint and select who is on the board for the subsidiary firm and control the activities that the subsidiary firm carries out.
Translation: Steyr Mannlicher Holdings basically tells Steyr Mannlicher Firearms what to do, because they are in charge and control assets and voting power.

This is a good contact.

I think it's pretty cool that the company is willing to communicate with it's consumers. You'd think that would be the norm, but unfortunately that's not always the case.

Perhaps a bit more effort might be spent on the US market, now that they know they have a base to work from.

We can do our part by getting the word out, let the guy in the next lane who's shooting Brand-G take our gun for a spin.

I don't know, I'm just getting back into pistol shooting and am a new convert to the Steyr. Perhaps you guys are already doing these things, but if we're not, we should be.

steyr mannlicher usa website?

Is there any indication of when they might get a site up and running? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the usasteyr site is that of the warranty station in Iowa. It would be very nice if the importer (in MS) would have a site with information on the current product line. They should also DEFINITELY have contact info regarding wholesalers that handle their products.

Thanks FlaChef we try our best to be VERY competitive and even if someone beats us by a dollar or two we figure people want to deal with nice folks on the other end of the phone/computer.

Since I am an FFL dealer, I contacted the USA Styer folks and asked what distributors might have the newer pistols.
I was told NONE

Not good. maybe once CDNN and davidsons have sold out all the old guns the new ones will hit. It's going to be a bit hard to sell them unless they are priced below what a Glock sells for. Steyr has an up hill battle here in the US. It's not impossible but there isn't a whole lot of name recognition from the general public.

Spoke with them on friday when I ordered the picatinny adapter and holster.

I'll open another tab (firefox) and check RSR

RSR does list them as an inventory item but shows ZERO in stock on all versions. (mm/40S&W/357 sig.

However the shown wholeslae price is about $100.00 less than a glock

Steyr has a superior product that now needs superior marketing and distribution to accompany that product. If they could manufacturer their weapons within the United States they would be able to overcome many of the legal issues associated with a foreign firearms manufacturer distributing its product in this country.

Every person I have let operater my M-40 Steyr pistol has been greatly impressed and expressed great interest in obtaining one of their own. However, few people have heard of Steyr and even fewer are aware of their pistols. For instance, my cousin is a police officer and never heard of a Steyr M-40 before I introduced him to the pistol. Furthermore, I find it somewhat discouraging when I see R. Lee Emery (Full Metal Jacket Drill Instructer) endorsing Glock Pistols when the Steyr design is far superior.

I hope Steyr is serious about improving their marketing and distribution within the United States.
