Anyone ever mount a red dot or holographic site on their M9?

I had one on my Glock 35 and loved it and wonder about the same for the M9.

I had a docter sight on my M40 ..... no rail or adapters necessary!
best soloution i ever had on a pistol.

How was the sight mounted? Do you have any pictures?
