Hey, I think it was FreedomsAdvocate that called us the Steyr Club Texas Chapter, we'll go with it :)

The day went great. Got a decent amount of pictures before the camera died. Even got a group photo. I'll post up an album and a full range report in a bit. I'm tired. Need to take a nap. Was fun.

Anyone else who was there, post up your thoughts. Our next meeting is going to be at Trinity Hall Irish Pub. They have monthly scotch tastings that are great! We'll wait a bit for the holiday season to pass and I'll put up info.

Man.... today was a blast!

STG wasn't quite as great as it could have been, as the optic wasn't even close to dialed in and I pretty much gave up on trying to zero it at that range before I had even finished the first 10 rounds. It's definitely an awesome gun - I think everyone got some trigger time on it. It was cold, and it definitely messed with our shooting (at least that's the story we're sticking with :D), but it was a great time. High point of the afternoon for me was shooting a Hi-Power - I have GOT to get one :D

I'm looked forward to the Second SCTC "Shoot" at the pub :)

It was good times. Man i'm still freaked out over the lil boy shooting the tack dead on, that was probably the sweetst range moment for me at any range i've been to.

You guys were all awesome. I think we got a pretty good crew lined up.:)

Hey, I was tired from all that shooting! Plus! I had to upload all the photos!

Which can be found here: http://www.steyrclub.com/vb/album.php?albumid=20

Day report:
-Drove to IHOP at 10am to get reserved table
-Found that IHOP does not reserve tables for the weekend
-Told that I checked in with "Chrissy" on Wednesday AND Thursday and verified that I had a table
-Manager went and got table
-Took 30 minutes to get table (place was PACKED)
-Wife amazed that I'm taking everything really well.
-I laugh and say, if things were going perfectly, it would mean that things would go wrong at range
-Explain law of "Calm before Storm" and "Distributed Good Luck" with elements of "Lady Luck" and "Well of Bad Luck"
-Syntax was late, vxskaxv didn't even show up at IHOP
-So! Things worked out perfectly! Scheduled 3 hours to eat meant that we arrived at range on time!

Range:
Oh muh gawd! Did we have firearms or what? Sheesh! I was the only one who brought a wife... or a girl at all... others chickened out... wife was pissed... (she demands more wimenz in the future!). Was cold, about 40 degrees. I was wearing long underwear, hoody, overjacket, gloves, and watch cap. I was happy, others werent so happy. Texans are wussies in the cold!

We fired lots. A couple variants of ARs, a 17mm rifle, an MSAR STG 556. We even attempted to fire a muzzle loaded, black powder, ball 45 rifle! It didn't work. But it looked cool! A lot of rounds went down range and we lost track of who fired what. Asking turned into demanding.

I like that MSAR!!!!!!! I want one....

Battery ran out on camera. At least we got a group shot!

Went over to the pistol range. My wife was firing my M9A1 and doing amazingly! She used up all of my ammo (saved me 10 rounds....). Fired a whole lot of I dont know what. Steyr M9a1, m357, m40a1, Glock 357 and 40 cal, a couple of revolvers, a Hi Power, a 45, and Syntax's silenced m9a1, as well as others, I really did lose count!

A kid came over with his dad and he was about to fire a .22 pistol as his first ever pistol. We wouldnt hear of it! So we handed him Syn's silenced m9a1. This kid's first fired pistol EVER was a silenced Steyr! Lucky....

The kid played with the laser site a bit. We then handed him a regular m9a1. Told him to aim at the lower tack. His first shot was an inch high. The second shot was perfect and his drove the tack through! Handed him a 40 cal and his permanent grin got bigger. You should have seen his eyes as he was firing the Steyrs. They glowed! He went back to fire his .22 with a bit of reluctance. I urged his dad to get the kid in NRA classes and on a team! (Dad was extremely proud! We kept cheering and patting the kid on the back)

Left afterwards. Great day. Was at the range from 1pm to 4:30. The others stayed a bit longer.

Alright, I think I left plenty of holes in that report for others to fill in. Was a great time! We were a bit rowdy and were drawing a lot of glances and looks. We just looked back and grinned even bigger! :D

We're planning on getting drinks at Trinity Hall Irish Pub for our next get together. That place is great! Best thing shy of shooting is drinking whiskey!

Sorry about that - it couldn't be avoided. Hydration, remember? :D

I think you mean we watched a guy cram a metal rod into a pipe filled with gunpowder and a metal ball, all about an inch under his nose, and then stepped back with giddy, school-girlish anticipation for the entire range to be decimated from the ensuing mayhem, only to hear the soul-crushing equivalent of a pop gun going off when the bomb failed to go boom. :( Despite the unexpected outcome, it was still excellent.

For my money, that was the firearms equivalency of losing one's virginity in a threesome with a Swedish supermodel and a pornstar. And to think, I popped my shooting cherry on some crappy .22 in the middle of a cow pasture in east Texas...
That kid will have an awesome story to tell his schoolyard buddies tomorrow, and hopefully he and his dad cultivated a new father/son hobby. Great day :)

The second shot was perfect and his drove the tack through!
Definitely the highlight of the day.

Bring it. That should be epoch. :D

checked out the pics...looks like yall had a bunch of fun.

I recognize all the screen names you listed...and I assume all the people that had "friend" in their titles aren't on here...but who is PJ? I don't think there is a screen name here that is PJ. Is that someone you know in real life and used just his name instead of saying "JaegerWulf's friend"? lol

Buddy of mine (me and mine are a pretty eclectic group) that I think we convinced to officially step into the Cult of the Online Steyr. He lurks the boards occasionally and has owned a M9A1 for about a year now...

Kind of a side note, but which one of you guys told me they were in need of an upgraded extractor/plunger?

Heard some of y'all had fun shootin.....

:eek::eek:
Fun? No - it was kind of like banging the ugly friend... We were all caught up in the moment, and they were there, so ya, maybe some people "took one for the team" and (regrettably) shot one or two of those abortions. In keeping with my impeccable integrity and undying loyalty to all things Steyr, I wouldn't be caught dead with one of those ugly things in my hands. You can't prove it, and what you can't prove didn't happen! :p

Those glocks were brought by MY friend. And I stand by him! One does not abandon a friend in hard times, even with the friend making mistakes. We shot the glocks right next to the steyrs. Glock 40, Steyr 40, Glock 357 Steyr 357. Steyrs always won out. I just needed to appreciate ugly before I could appreciate beauty!

Yeah, I didn't feel very comfortable putting real names. But PJ could be anything, so I didn't mind it so much. Plus it will encourage him to actually sign up on the boards, instead of just lurking. YEAH! PJ!! I SEE YOU READING THIS RIGHT NOW!!!! Go up to the top and click REGISTER.... do it, damnit!

Once he does, I'll go through and edit the pictures to put in his name. I'll do that for our other friends too.

michael, yeah, didn't mind putting your name up as you have your name as your forum name.

SD, Indeed. I think the next time we'll just go and hang out. Spend 25 dollars on a Scotch tasting and hang out. Plan another range trip after that.

Jake, I understand completely. ETH and babj missed this one too. You guys just need to make a roadtrip out here :)

Hey, I just figured out how to get photos off of my cellphone... huh... I posted up a couple of pictures of that kid that shot the tack out in the DFW Range Trip album. There's one of him next to his target and a close up of the target showing the hole clearly.
