Day report:
-Drove to IHOP at 10am to get reserved table
-Found that IHOP does not reserve tables for the weekend
-Told that I checked in with "Chrissy" on Wednesday AND Thursday and verified that I had a table
-Manager went and got table
-Took 30 minutes to get table (place was PACKED)
-Wife amazed that I'm taking everything really well.
-I laugh and say, if things were going perfectly, it would mean that things would go wrong at range
-Explain law of "Calm before Storm" and "Distributed Good Luck" with elements of "Lady Luck" and "Well of Bad Luck"
-Syntax was late, vxskaxv didn't even show up at IHOP
-So! Things worked out perfectly! Scheduled 3 hours to eat meant that we arrived at range on time!
Range:
Oh muh gawd! Did we have firearms or what? Sheesh! I was the only one who brought a wife... or a girl at all... others chickened out... wife was pissed... (she demands more wimenz in the future!). Was cold, about 40 degrees. I was wearing long underwear, hoody, overjacket, gloves, and watch cap. I was happy, others werent so happy. Texans are wussies in the cold!
We fired lots. A couple variants of ARs, a 17mm rifle, an MSAR STG 556. We even attempted to fire a muzzle loaded, black powder, ball 45 rifle! It didn't work. But it looked cool! A lot of rounds went down range and we lost track of who fired what. Asking turned into demanding.
I like that MSAR!!!!!!! I want one....
Battery ran out on camera. At least we got a group shot!
Went over to the pistol range. My wife was firing my M9A1 and doing amazingly! She used up all of my ammo (saved me 10 rounds....). Fired a whole lot of I dont know what. Steyr M9a1, m357, m40a1, Glock 357 and 40 cal, a couple of revolvers, a Hi Power, a 45, and Syntax's silenced m9a1, as well as others, I really did lose count!
A kid came over with his dad and he was about to fire a .22 pistol as his first ever pistol. We wouldnt hear of it! So we handed him Syn's silenced m9a1. This kid's first fired pistol EVER was a silenced Steyr! Lucky....
The kid played with the laser site a bit. We then handed him a regular m9a1. Told him to aim at the lower tack. His first shot was an inch high. The second shot was perfect and his drove the tack through! Handed him a 40 cal and his permanent grin got bigger. You should have seen his eyes as he was firing the Steyrs. They glowed! He went back to fire his .22 with a bit of reluctance. I urged his dad to get the kid in NRA classes and on a team! (Dad was extremely proud! We kept cheering and patting the kid on the back)
Left afterwards. Great day. Was at the range from 1pm to 4:30. The others stayed a bit longer.
Alright, I think I left plenty of holes in that report for others to fill in. Was a great time! We were a bit rowdy and were drawing a lot of glances and looks. We just looked back and grinned even bigger!
We're planning on getting drinks at Trinity Hall Irish Pub for our next get together. That place is great! Best thing shy of shooting is drinking whiskey!
