Is it pronounced Stire, or Steer, or something else?
This comes up a lot. It's "st-eye-er" I believe, or if you're hardcore austrian, "sh-t-eye-er"
when in Rome...
I've been pronouncing it "sh-t-eye-er" as the Austrians would when I talk about the gun.
Iirc, bad guy/arms dealer Ordell Robbie (Samual L Jackson) in the movie "Jackie Brown" pronounced Steyr that way as well but it's been a while.
When I used to drive french Renault automobiles in the US, Joe Average would scratch his head if I used the French pronounciation of Renault as "renn-oh". Still miss my trusty '83 Fuego Turbo.
