Being Naive to protocol and net manners, I joined up a while back and asked for advice and got some great replies. I just purchased and M40 A1 pistol, my very first new, new gun. I am trying to figure out how many calibres I can mount on this frame, .Who needs accessories if I can do what I think is possible with a with a barrel and mag change.
Before the above I had been obsesing on the 1895 straight pull long arms. I have an M95 Carbine, don't think it is converted and an 1895 long rifle (30" barrel) in "S" 8x56R, an 1895 in 8x50 (expensive round nose bullets they are), someone sold me this as an 8x56r, it had a small 'S' on it, turned out to be overlapping stamps, it was duffle bag cut and stuffed with cosmoline, bore blocked. I also have a Dutch short rifle that is 1895 Mannlicher but in 6.5x53 (I think), it is a strange beast, it is a turn bolt that takes the en block clips and a little flat shooting round.
I have fired my M95 carbine and the recoil is stout, I have not fired either long rifle version yet, I am wondering if there will be less recoil. I usually only shoot long guns on vacation as the best place to shoot rifles around here requires an NRA membership to apply. I won't present my card for that.
Thanks for being kind to me despite my lapse in manners. Hello all.
