It appears that under the House bill currently being considered for Obamacare, the federal government will dictate the standards of what all health care plans must provide (even if the bill does not provide for a public option, at least not right now). AND, you will be required to submit proof to the IRS each April (with your tax return) that you have purchased coverage under such a qualifying plan. If you don't, the IRS will fine you. Just think about that for a minute. :cuss:

yeah, it is a sad and disturbing trend...

residents of the peoples republic of massachusetts already enjoy a government mandated health care system and the current fine for refusal to comply (and pay hundreds of dollars a month to a private insurance company just to get some minimal coverage with a 2000 dollar deductible) is over a thousand dollars a year.

"freedoms just another word for nothin left to lose,"

This is great, I am coping from another forum.

LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT..........

Obama's health care plan will be:
written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it,
passed by a Congress that hasn't read it,
signed by a president who smokes,
funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes,
overseen by a surgeon general who is obese,
and
financed by a country that is broke.

What possibly could go wrong?

JUST IN ...

Democrats, realizing the success of the President's "Cash For Clunkers" rebate program, have revamped a major portion of their National Health Care Plan.

President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Sen. Reed are expected to make this major announcement at a joint news conference later this week. I have obtained an advanced copy of the proposal which is named.... "CASH FOR CODGERS" and it works like this... Couples wishing to access health care funds in order to pay for the delivery of a child will be required to turn in one old person. The amount the government grants them will be fixed according to a sliding scale. Older and more prescription dependent codgers will garner the highest amounts.

Special "Bonuses" will be paid for those submitting codgers in targeted groups, such as smokers, alcohol drinkers, persons 10 pounds over their government prescribed weight, and any member of the Republican Party.

Smaller bonuses will be given for codgers who consume beef, soda, fried foods, potato chips, lattes, whole milk, dairy products, bacon, Brussel sprouts, or Girl Scout Cookies.

All codgers will be rendered totally useless via toxic injection. This will insure that they are not secretly resold or their body parts harvested to keep other codgers in repair.

Folks

Obama is quoted in April 2009: "the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80% of the total health care bill out there", and he spoke in the same interview of the country making decisions. Decisions on if and how to treat the chronically ill? Decisions on if and how to treat patients " towards" the end of their lives? Obama's "independent group" may be correctly labelled a "death panel", but it is more important to note that the concept of not treating the chronically ill, of not treating those who are perceived to be nearing the end of life, and of an "independent group" to make those decisions that electoral accountability would not otherwise allow government to make, came from the mouth of the President himself. Socialism?? Welcome to Fascism.

In 1993 my mother was declared terminal, given less than six months to live by doctors at Western State Hospital in the State of Washington. I managed to get her out of Western State Hospital, saw to her medical needs, and she lived eleven more years, until July of 2004. The doctors at Western State Hospital did not want to release her, it took a court order. Had she remained in their custody, I am certain she would have died in less than six months consistent with the Western State Hospital doctors' fate to complete prognosis.

My brother was given less than six months to live by US Naval physicians more than 15 years ago. He had a malignant brain tumor and lung cancer. The brain tumor was operable and was removed. His doctors told him no-one had lived more than six months with small cell cancer, so doctors initially did not want to operate to remove the lung. My brother called me to discuss the dilema. I asked my brother what he wanted to do. He said he wanted to remove the lung. I told him he had a right to make his own decision and we would find someone to remove the lung if Naval physicians refused. At the time, there was no government committee who could order that he not be treated in this country. There was no government disincentive program in place to assure no doctor would agree to treat him. At my brother's insistance, Naval doctors did remove the lung. That was over fifteen years ago, and he has had no sign of cancer since.

Could my mother and my brother have survived Obamacare? Both were perceived to be "towards" the end of their lives. Had a government committee imposed a fate to complete decision to refuse my brother and my mother treatment in this country, would I have called that committee a "Death Panel". Yes, and worse. Thomas Sowell wrote in part:
As for a "death panel," no politician would ever use that phrase when trying to get a piece of legislation passed. "End of life" care under the "guidance" of "some independent group" sounds so much nicer-- and these are the terms President Obama used in an interview with the New York Times back on April 14th.

He said, "the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill out there." He added: "It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels. That is why you have to have some independent group that can give you guidance."

From the mouth of Obama, electoral accountability circumvented, or not? I believe this Administration and this Congress misjudge the American people.

I've decided that I will completely embrace the presiden't healthcare reform. Providing of course that every member of congress, the senate, the courts, the executive branch, and anyone else drawing a paycheck derived from public tax dollars has the same plan I do.

Buried deep within the over 1,000 pages of the massive US Health Care Bill (PDF) in a “non-discussed” section titled: Subtitle C-11 Sec. 2521— National Medical Device Registry, and which states its purpose as:

“The Secretary shall establish a national medical device registry (in this subsection referred to as the ‘registry’) to facilitate analysis of postmarket safety and outcomes data on each device that—‘‘(A) is or has been used in or on a patient; and ‘‘(B) is a class III device; or ‘‘(ii) a class II device that is implantable.”

In “real world speak”, according to this report, this new law, when fully implemented, provides the framework for making the United States the first Nation in the World to require each and every one of its citizens to have implanted in them a radio-frequency identification (RFID) microchip for the purpose of controlling who is, or isn’t, allowed medical care in their country.
zomg!!! They're going to microchip you!!!!!!!! That's what's next!!!! :tinfoil:

Hey, screw you guys - I'm working real hard here to sustain this Herculean effort required to maintain my distorted perception of reality.

Ya, the author may have made some... "creative" leaps to arrive at that conclusion from the original language, but it supports my narrative of how I want things to be. And it's on the internet, so it must be true.

You are a true scholar amongst the masses.

Maybe it is time to reinforce the tinfoil hat, which I probably need to do myself. JP

It would seem this bill will be good for the insurance industry. They will raise premiums to astronomical levels to cover all of those pre-existing conditions and government insurance subsidies.

Where is the logic to force a company to take on an instant debt. If I have a wrecked car and then go get vehicle insurance, do I get a new car?

So if everyone now has insurance and presumably the bills get paid, will the cost of health care drop? Will a vial of Rocephin be billed for hundreds of dollars instead of the going wholesale rate of $42. I doubt it. The hospitals and insurance industry is used to making a certain profit and will continue to do so.

My Democrat congressman voted against this bill/law. Thank you Congressman Taylor
