hmmm Receiver says E100428 Slide and Barrel say 029813 Should I be worried? I'm getting it inspected by the Police tomorrow, hope its not a problem. Post Script: The dealer informs me that the pistol was a demo sent from Steyr to NZ Ammo Co. He doesn't really know why the serials don't match though. The receiver s/n is the only one the police use here.
You spent a lot of money on the gun. Shame it isn't brand new, with matching numbers and accessories. Just wondering, did you save some money by purchasing this particular gun? Or Are Steyr's just not available in NZ ??
Might have been a coversion, or factory re-furbished. As long as the gun shoots, don't worry about it. Serial on the frame is all you need. Personally I think it's a bit silly to serialize parts that wear out and eventually might get replaced - but whatever..
SN#ing everything has to do with European gun laws. If you look at Walthers, SIGs, HKs and Euro made GLOCKs, they are covered in not just SN#'s, but proof marks too. Most of the rest of the world doesn't do it except for some military contracts. Glad you still got your M-A1 Polymer Proselyte, the hoops you've had to jump through is plain crazy.
Its been worth it. My wifes been away in China shooting with the NZ team and she's back on Monday. It'll be interesting to see what she thinks of it. The $1069 NZ dollars I paid was a really good deal - non matching serials and all. Now to get those extra mags and get it racing in IPSC.
