Howdy,
I got this 1909 about 4 years ago and just found ammo for it last week so my son and I went out and was able to shoot it for the first time man it was awesome it shoots great. can anyone tell me more about this rifle? I don't know much about it I bought it from a customer of mine for my 12 year old he loves it. So i'm looking for a place to buy more ammo for it as well and also about how much it is worth not that i'm selling it just would like to know. the gun shops just keep telling me they don't know much but would buy it. it has matching number on the stock, bolt, barrel and reciver so i think it is all original but would love to know more about it and find ammo for it.

www.grafs.com may have ammo or at least reloading equipment for it. Reloading is a way cheaper way to shoot anyway, and you and your son can have many happy hours doing it together.

Check for the overstamps on the barrel, what kind of crest is on the barrel? You may have a Bulgarian M95. I'm guessing that you found 8x50 ammo, right?

Thank you for the welcome and the links they should help. The creast is a Lion I uploaded some pic not sure why they are not showing up i'll try uploading again.
The ammo we found was 8x56 205 gr SP.

With the lion being the symbol for the Bulgarian Monarchy, you've got a M95 originally issued in 1909 and re-chambered later to 8mm x 56 (R?) or ... Does it have the bayonet lug?

I'm far from an expert on this, but I know a couple in Germany and they hunt with this cartridge and rifle.

The pics are showing, no problem, I just couldn't make out the lug from the full length pics. Anyway, you've got a fine weapon, and one which should provide you and your son with much enjoyment over the years.

If it has a big S or H stamped on it, it is 8x56R, otherwise it is 8x50. There are a lot of these around cheap right now.
You need to get some of that somewhat rare Nazi and Austiran marked 8x56R, Privi and Hornady makes it I think they call it Hungarian. You can get loose surplus from a few places cheaper if it has been stripped out of the chargers, some sell the clips and boxes seperately. RC arms has some loose. and someone on Gens America was selling it for less than $1.50 a round.
