I travel a lot for work and today I was driving around my old territory. I stopped in at a store and they had two used M40s for sale. The one was $430 with 2 mags and the other was $400 with one mag. The 2 pistols have been at that shop for a while, so I talked to the older salesman behind the counter and told him that I bought a NIB M9 for $250. I asked him what he could do for me and he came back and said $280. I have been wanting an M40 or M40A1. I am glad I was able to pick up the M40 for only $280. The other M40 came with 2 mags, but the finish on the slide looked odd...it was black and chipping on the corners. I already have a custom holster for my M9, so I saved money on not having to buy another holster if I would have bought the M40A1. I am planning on sending this pistol to Tripp to have it hard chromed. The funny thing is I have been selling some of my guns and today I bought one. Looks like I will have to press selling the CZ's and Glock.

$280 for a M40 is a pretty good price. J&G Sales (in Prescott, AZ) has a M40 in their used gun case that they’re selling for something like $389 . . . and that’s with NO magazine!

That’s way too high for a magazine-less pistol, but if they someday reduce it to below $300, I might give it a shot. I already have a few extra magazines, and I wouldn’t mind getting a twin brother for my existing M40.
