I thought I had fixed the jamming in my M9, but I have been shooting without cleaning, and it keeps jamming. Don't get me wrong, I clean thoroughly and completely every 100 rounds or so. It seems that my ejection is erratic as crap. Some rounds go left, some go right, some go over my shoulder, and once in a while they hit me in the forehead. I clean my ejector when I clean, but I was seeing how long it would take my gun to gum up by not cleaning. After 150 rounds, I get a jam every 2 magazines where it leaves the empty in the chamber and tries to load a new one. The only way to clear it is to lock the slide back, reach my finger in the port and push the round back into the mag, drop the mag, then eject the empty from the chamber. How can I get in touch with Steyr about this? It seems to be getting worse.

You said you clean the ejector...have you tried taking apart the extractor and giving it a thorough cleaning? There are several threads running here about that...and the problems you describe sound just like them. There's a detailed tutorial posted on how to take apart the extractor and clean it. I'd give that a shot and see if it solves your erratic brass and jamming problems.

If you bought yours from CDNN it's probably just gummed up.
When I got mine from CDNN I could barely move my extractor with a scredriver. Now after taking it apart and using a little CLP I can now move it with my finger the way it should be.

I'll concur with everyone else and say extractor issues.

Check my write-up in "Tutorials & Information". Getting the extractor out is incredibly easy, and giving it a thorough clean & lube is a great thing to enhance reliability, IMHO.

Clean it up, then shoot it up, and let us know how she runs.

I knew that would come up

:D Yes, I have taken that sucker out and cleaned it every time I clean the gun. 600 rounds through it and it is still doing the same thing. I can assure you that I got all of the gum and dried out lube out of the thing. I have tried the extractor lubed, oiled, greased, and dry. No difference. Can I reshape it a little with a Dremel? If I went this route I would definitely have one ordered from Steyr before I started. I would hope they would send one free after all my troubles.... Any Ideas?

You say you don't know how many rounds are through the gun, as you bought it used.

I also read your thread about the trigger reset failure.

I'm starting to wonder if a full set of new springs in the gun - particularly the recoil spring and maybe extractor spring - would indeed help.

I would also do the complete action removal from the frame, and see what's going on in there. I can't say your extraction problems will reveal their source, but the trigger issue may surface.

One other thing - when cleaning the barrel, be sure to clean the chamber & feed ramp very well. It's possible your chamber has some gunk or fouling in it that you missed; often the barrel brushes clean the barrel really well, but the chamber doesn't quite get the good scrubbing, being slightly larger and all.

I have had to scrub my feed ramp more than once with a brass brush (and occasionally scape with my fingernail!) to get all the junk off of it.

hmm

I think you're thinking of someone else. I bought it new from CDNN. I have taken it down to the trigger assembly and have no trigger issues. Actually the trigger action is great, I can't tell it is double action, feels like a single to me. Clean break after a light first stage.
