/// IGB Austria (Impulse Gun Barrels) - Review ///

For all that were following this thread, it took IGB Austria nearly 18 months to finally replace TWO poorly designed barrels for my Steyr.

Many phone conversations and emails with Carmen went unresolved.

Recently, Carmen became unavailable, and I have not been given a direct answer as to why.

Carmen was always delightful to deal with. I know she had some medical problems, and while I hope all is well, I fear it is not.

In Carmens absence, Viktor did begin correspondence via email, and finally made good on his products.

I wish the very best to IGB.

Sorry to hear all that. :( I know it's been a major point of frustration for your for the past few months - keep us updated...

(good thing we didn't organize an IGB group buy, eh?)
Re: /// AVOID IGB Austria (Impulse Gun Barrels) ///

Did the gunsmith you had fit the barrels point all this out to you?

IGB manufactures "Drop-In Barrels" - No Gunsmithing required....

Besides, the amount of work these barrels need would require a gunsmith to start over with a blank piece of steel....

Re: /// AVOID IGB Austria (Impulse Gun Barrels) ///

Man thats horrible :wall:

I hate to hear it. I hope you get some sort of happy ending.. A least something you can live with..

Good luck..
Re: /// AVOID IGB Austria (Impulse Gun Barrels) ///

Sad, sad tale. Guess I'll forget about turning my M357-A1 into a carbine with IGB parts.

Looks like my only option for such is a Grock. Lone Wolf sent me an email that they now offer Mech Tech carbine kits for $330 for Grocks. 'Course that means I gotta buy a G20 or G31.

Net they sell them for the 1911 too.. A carbine kit that is.

You could put one on that Llama

I wish. I found out with the ambi-safety misadventure the Llama IX-C frame is 25/1000ths wider than a standard 1911. Internal stuff is mostly the same, but frame fit is different.

But it's still a great pistol and I've also found out I can get mags to fit it by cutting a slightly wider notch in Para Ord mags. I've got two I already had modified, a 14 and a 20(!), and two more 14s on order to arrive with my new M9-A1. I'll get those notched as soon as they arrive and give a range report on my four new "full capacity mags" for the Llama.

Admins Please don't ding me for this comment. I say this from my heart, not offend...

I DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR HOLIDAYS !!!!

Babs, I totally agree with you. You have way more patience than I. I wish I could say something that would make you feel warm and fuzzy. But when money is involved "F" them.

Admins, "F" is for fudge.

I stand down to you for your patience. You were asked if you have been working with a gunsmith. I wish they could have some consistancy (F7, for the PC geeks) for their barrels. If they were a simply drop in barrel and you had to cut into the slide..... now your slide is dedicated to that and only that barrel. I purchased a new slide and my existing barrel (other than Steyr) will be dedicated to that slide. I don't want to invest in a barrel, just to cut away on something that is stated as "ready to shoot". If slides were readily available, then I might go for it.

As for the barrel too short..... NO EXCUSE !!!

Babs, come over here. You need a group hug. Sorry my friend (I truly mean that).

Take Care and I hope the best for you. The run around you have been through is "BS".

Admins, the "BS" stands for Bravo Sierra.

Thanks for the heads up. (The power of SteyrClub) :!:

Re: /// AVOID IGB Austria (Impulse Gun Barrels) ///

well this is interesting. Sorry youre having difficulties. I had issues with my 357sig barrel from them too. With the help of Wulf I got a replacement. I haven't shot the new one much yet, just 12 rounds. It seemed to be OK, but this new posting is not a good sign.......Yea, the barrels are NOT drop in, even though they are advertised as drop in.......
Re: /// AVOID IGB Austria (Impulse Gun Barrels) ///

perhaps you can contact their local police. Just maybe their might be some sort of crime involved when shipping or in this case not shipping (ala us mail fraud kinda thing). I know they are not us but just maybe. Better than nothing.

Also might want to contact sai just so this company is on their radar as screwing over their customers
Re: /// AVOID IGB Austria (Impulse Gun Barrels) ///

I would definitely do my best to get the weight of SAI and S-M behind me if I were in your shoes... I believe they have done work with IGB in the past, though I may be 100% wrong on that. Either way, it couldn't hurt to try...
Re: /// AVOID IGB Austria (Impulse Gun Barrels) ///

Hey Babj!

Sorry to hear of Your situation.

I'm currently trying to iron out the particulars of a warranty claim on one of my two IGB barrels.

Hope it works out for the both of Us!

* EDIT *
Some barrel manufacturers have disclaimers that their drop in barrels may require some fitting, but what Babj is experiencing is beyond what any fitting might fix.

Original post updated as of today.
Re: /// AVOID IGB Austria (Impulse Gun Barrels) ///

Am I reading it wrong, or did you decide to give them more money (albeit at a discounted rate) for something else (the glock shoulder stock) after they had already screwed you 3 times? :?

Jeez man, what a run of bad luck - I wonder how big of an operation IGB is... We're all rooting for you, but it isn't looking good at this point :x. If it's any consolation, I'm sure there are more than one SteyrClub members that have opted to shy away from business with these people because of your plight...

not exactly. they offered the stock for free for my trouble, and I cheerfully accepted.

Small mom and pop business with less than 5 employees total...

Well, I am only trying to inform others of my experience. Certainly, YMMV.

If you want something they have in stock, then usually takes only 2-3 weeks to get it.... Just do not expect expediated service when you have issues with what you get....

Re: /// AVOID IGB Austria (Impulse Gun Barrels) ///

Just gotta reply, I hate bad customer service and totally believe in consumers sticking together to force companies to do right by us. You have my support an as much as I want to make a purchase from IGB I will not until your issue is resolved, I just really want a decent muzzle brake :shh: . Next I also want to put out there, I did pick up an M9 advertised on this forum with some IGB work and a barrel done to it, so as not to Hi-jack the purpose of this thread I will post the range report on a seperate forum. Good luck and hopefully the get there stuff together and make things right for you. I will also add my guess is that if we were talking about Glock accessories there would be much more pressure to make things right for you, our choice to be Steyr lovers currently has some hurdles of being the small fish in a very big pond.
Original Post Updated.
Hang in there and keep fighting the good fight! Hopefully you can take some solice in the fact that this post has been directly responsible for at least a handful of people contributing nothing to those shysters, at least until this whole matter is resolved.
