Hey All!

Flyandscuba, Nice shooting! Very nice collection!

I recently became a P7M8 owner, in fact I got two! I've got #110 & #111 of the last 500.

#110 has not had the slide racked(by me anyway!) and has warm cozy spot in the very back of my safe, while #111 is a shooter w/ exactly 300 rounds throught it and Nill grips.

My favorite HK is still my USP Expert 45! It's got about 500 rounds through it and it's really hard to keep the round count low, as it is one fantastic pistol. I purchased(assembled!) my USP Match 45 clone a month or two after I got The Expert and The Match has about 900 rounds through it already.

The work horse in my pistol collection is the Steyr M357-A1. It has more than twice as many rounds through it as any other pistol I currently own! It's turned 1800 rounds of 357sig and 800 rounds of 40s&w in six months.

My dealer has two HK refurbished police trade-in P7M8s each listed at $800. I am building his website for free so I am considered a friend of the store and get great deals on stuff. He said I could have one of the P7s for $600. Unfortuantely, I don't have the money. Graaaargh! :x

Borrow the money -- see if they'll let you do 90 days, same-as-cash -- etc. Actually, if he has two (and these are M8s) -- buy both on credit and then list one of them for sale on gunbroker.com for $999....trust me, it will sell. You'll then have a P7M8 you investly a little more than $200 in...

Find a way -- there are anymore of these -- and none for that type of price, refurb or not.

Just looked on GB and there are quite a few trade-in P7s up for auction. Most of them seem to have better finishes then the two I am looking at. Also, I think my dealer was wrong, I think they are PSPs, not M8s. Don't know enough about the P7 to know which models are more desirable.

I want to get one while I can, but I have pushed it too the limit with my partner this year in the $$$ I have spent on firearms and training. I have bought four guns in the last 10 months, sold one for what I bought it and traded another at a loss of $100. Since I bought my M40-A1 from my dealer before I knew about CDNN I can't afford to trade it or sell it. Plus, we need a new roof.

Oh well. I am still young and have plenty of time to buy a P7 and a shotgun and a Sig and an AR and ....

Yep, your last description mentioned a mag release on the heel of the grip...

That changes things a bit -- meaning the pistols are P7 PSPs, rather than P7M8s.

$600 each is a fair market price for the latest group of import P7s. IF they had been P7M8s, my initial recommendation would stand.

BTW, I have two P7 PSPs in my P7-series collection -- that model still remains my favorite carry version of the P7...

No, the frames of the two pistols are totally different. The PSP has a shorter trigger guard with no heat shield. In some ways, many feel that makes it the better choice for concealability.

The P7M13, and P7M10 share the same frame. The P7M8, P7 PSP and the P7K3 have three other distinct frame designs.

The HK P7 PSP German police trade-ins that have hit the market are worth every penny. If you've wanted a P7 now is the time. mY understanding is that Grade A pieces are retailing at $799, Geade B at $699, and I'm not sure about C grade. I'm told that HK is inspecting these pistols and is grading them mainly on wear and use, not necessarily on cosmetic issues. So, some of the B's are cosmetically top notch. While I'm sure that HK is dealing with any issues that their inspection is turning up, I don't know if it can be said that these guns are refurbished. Does anyone know this to be the case?

The P7 PSP (there was only a very limited number of "true" PSPs) isn't the M8 but is nothing to sneeze at. For carry some consider them to be a better choice. I'm told that if you get ahold of an M8 heat shield it can be modified to fit. That's not a concern to me.

This past week I stopped off at the local shop to pick up some rifle ammo. I immediately spotted the gun in the case. The finish wasn't what I would accept and when I asked them to put it back in the case they told me that I would probably want to see the one that they had in the back. It was also a B grade but the finish was much better and the trigger had a more crisp break, although the first one was still pretty sweet. I've wanted a P7 since the 90's so I snatched it up for $699 and put it on layaway. I should be able to pick it up next week. The only wear is standard holster wear with the gun at around 95%. I doubt I will have it refinished as I have always enjoyed a gun with a little holster wear. I had a German Bundeswehr surplus HK4 that I had refinished and I regretted it immediately.

I'm pretty excited about this gun as it came by complete surprise as I hadn't seen that the surplus guns were hitting our shores. Right now I'm pretty thrilled with a surplus unissued Walther P1 (a real tack driver) so I may have to go after a surplus Walther PP Super.

I don't see how you can go wrong buying a trade-in P7 PSP. There will be a bunch of them for sale for a while and then the prices will rise. I've owned a number of guns with heel releases (Sig 220, HK P9S, HK4, VP70Z, Walther P1) and I don't have a huge problem with that. Other than a smaller trigger guard, lack of a heat shield, a heel mag relaease (and different mag), an added front slide bevel, and some relatively minor internal changes, the PSP and M8 are identical.

One thing I forgot to ask is whether HK is providing a warranty. Anyone know?

Actually, CDNN has (or had) quite a few of these at slightly better prices.

HK Trussville is giving them the once-over and grading them. They also have the HK Trussville import mark on the slide. All should be completely functional when they leave HKUSA. A newly reprinted owner's manual comes with the gun but because they are police trade-ins (used guns) I do not believe they have a warranty.

If I didn't already have two of the P7 PSPs in my collection, I would have snapped up a couple (thought about it for an investment anyway). To this day, I still prefer to carry my original P7 German Border Patrol trade-in as a CCW over my M8, M13, or M10.

Guys, at these prices there really is no reason not to acquire one of these fine pistols. Most will agree it is the best 9mm carry gun they have ever fired...

I heard that the C grades were going for under $500 at CDNN, that is if they still have any. I like CDNN and am not adverse to saving some bucks, but when I can I like to buy a gun out of a shop, especially a used gun. But heck, HK went over them

Just as a follow-up, I picked up my P7 PSP yesterday. As I remembered there was some holster wear. A quick touch-up took care of that. On the left front of the slide there is a 2 or 3mm mark that looks almost like an extra proof mark. It won't take gun blue and it seems like a proof mark, almost in the shape of a very small feather. I'll check it out under maginification. It's not an issue at all to me and the gun is otherwise cosmetically very nice.

The internals on the gun looks virgin, hardly shot at all. It could pass for new. There are no signs of wear whatsoever. I was stunned when I opened it up. This gun was carried but hardly shot.

While at the shop I spied a Saiga AK rifel in .308. These sporterized AKs are arguably the best value in the gun world today. Their future is looking very doubtful already targeted by the gun grabers. Other than the very high end uber AKs they are the best AK going easily converted to original AK configuration or other variations. Here is my .223: http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/2671/saiga223tj4.jpg

I brought the gun home and leaned it up against a table. It fell to the side landing on my left big toe. I now have a broken toe

I hope to shoot the P7 and .308 this weekend, depending on how the toe feels. D'oh!

Buzz, where did you get that mag? I have a .223 Arsenal SLR-106FR and I only have a couple 20-round smoke-colored plastic mags. To me that looks a little like a Galil mag...

I'm looking for a source of hicap mags for my AK, as I can't buy them in my state. Yes, in MD it is illegal to manufacture, purchase, or transfer mags with a capacity of more than 20 rounds, but if you buy them in another state and bring them home, they're perfectly legal to own. I don't want to go to a gun show and not find anything, so it would be nice to know what sort of mags I can use for mine.

However I plan on starting an AR-15 build soon, and eventually buying an UZI carbine, so maybe I'll have a reason to go elsewhere. ;)

A guy on the Saiga forum sold them to me, three of them, for $40 each. They usually go for more than that. These are .223 Wieger East German AK mags that have been converted for use in the Saiga. A regular AK mag won't work in a Saiga without the installation of a bullet guide and alterations to the mag, but the Wiegers do not require the bullet guide and only minimal alteration. I don't know if they're going to work in your AK as they have been converted to Saiga use. Otherwise Wiegers are hard to find. Copes has what looks like the Wiegers modified for the Saiga.

Hmm... interesting. Are the Saigas modified that way like the WASR-10s were during the AWB so they could only accept certain mags, to seem more like "sporting" weapons?

Guess I'll just find a dealer in VA that carries Arsenal mags ;)
