Congratulations for the excellent forum SteyrClube. I`m police in Portugal and Steyr M A1 yes that is a great pistol. In Portugal the police have, being others, GLOCK 19 and Beretta PX4 Storm.

Does anybody know if Steyr M A1 is used by some police departement?

    Best regards.

  2. Welcome!

I am an American by birth and blood, but I was born in Rota, Spain.

Welcome to this site it is always nice to have someone with law enforcement experience with the Steyr MA1 pistol.

Forum moderator madecov duty carries his M40A1, and I'm sure many other LEO's sport their Steyrs while on the clock. However, no US police department has ever issued the Steyr pistols (as far as we know). There are at least a handful of military organizations (that Indonesian spec-ops team we saw a few months ago comes to mind) worldwide that do issue Steyr sidearms.

    Yup.
My M40A1 is my primary duty weapon.

When the S9A1 becomes available in the USA it will probably become my off duty/Backup

Hello and welcome to the club. :)
I'm curious if your A1's have the push up safety in the trigger guard the USA versions lack?
