hello people,

baught brand new Glock 17, I just wonted to own one Glock, because everyone thinks Glck is just super pistol. Well endeed Glock is indeed very good BUT I discovered that Steyr looks like is been made more precisely.. if you know what I mean. Metal works, quality of polymer frame, finnish... well is slightly better, I might say much better. I like the writing on Steyr frame, it looks cute and sexy unlike on glocks.

steel mags no doubt are much better rather then plastic ones.
so my be Glock is more reliable, but Steyr is more sexy. also M-9 is much more concealed and much more compact than standard G17.

The grip, I dont thin Glocks grip fit anyones hand, its too big, its finger grooves are not placed where they should be. 10 from 10 sad that Steyrs grip is much more comfortable, eventhough it looks more asketique.

accuracy for out of the box Glock 17 is legend and I believe in it because accuracy or my new G17 is just super.

I love both of them and will never trade them. may be i will add a few new guns but G17 and M9 will remain in my arsenal forever.

I am happy to own (IMHO) two of the best pistols in the world.

I just had to have a 17 to and then a 19 and now wanting to complete the 9mm with the addition of the 26, 34 & 17L. Congrats, I think you'll find it is a great gun, I just like the feel of my M9 ALOT more. I am now spoiled.

If I was going to own a Glock it would be a G17 or maybe a G29. I've shot G-17, 23, 22, 19, and 27 and wasn't impressed with any of them except the G17, but I still wouldn't give up my Steyr for one.

Happy shooting, I think you'll enjoy it.

Just finished a range session with M40.....It worked pretty much flawlessly except for a few cluncker reloads of mine......I put round nose, flat nose, hollow points, molly coated and jacketed stuff without a burp......but I have to give the trigger response to Glock...I'm still having to pull the Steyr trigger a little too hard to get ignition, which throws off my aim......when they get (hopefully) aftermarket accessories or a trigger job routine down then I'll give all the cookies to my Steyr.......but for competition the Glock wins......I have a 2nd generation 17 with the old straight grip that I really like........worked the trigger, polished parts and its great.......as is my 22, and 30.......and 34 (35? 40 cal)........ :D

BB68,
I agree, its my "take out" gun......always in the car, with tach lite and I modified G21 mags to add a finger extension at the bottom......about an inch sticks out, but my pinky has a place to rest.....and 13rounds of woop-ass.......Gaston did a special job on the 30 with the extra couple of twists in the barrel.....and I think a little livlier trigger.....I think its better then the 21.........I'd like to see a 9mm with that platform and heft....it wouldn't budge when you pulled the tirgger  and the size of the mag would be about 20 rounds............... 8)

The lead designer on the Steyr Mannlicher M-series was Wilhelm Bubits who used to work for Glock. In addition, as many of you know, both Glock and Steyr are Austrian firearms companies. Steyr has a longer and richer history in the firearms world, but Glock is the marketing king currently in the pistol world.

I honestly believe that the Steyr M-series was what Glock should have become in many respects. Steyr has always been way, way, way ahead of their time as evident by the Steyr AUG. I am hopeful that through this website and Steyr Mannlicher pushing a huge marketing campaign in 06' the Steyr name will be given the respect in the pistol world that it has won in the long arms world.

Alot of beautiful things come from Austria and Glock and Steyr are certainly two of them.
