At long last, I have come across and purchased the same style and caliber FN-49 that I had to sell when I was in University. It is in caliber 7x57 (Mauser) and was one of the Venezuelan contract (1 of ~8000 total) rifles. Mine is in superb condition and all original. An excellent, excellent firearm is the FN-49. The FN-49 was the precursor to the great FN FAL. Finally. Here are some quick pictures.

Very nice!!! I've had my 49 for almost 20 years now, but have only shot it a handful of times. It's an Egyptian contract in 8mm. I need/want to get several parts, but they aren't too difficult to get.
I've heard so many of those " I wish I'd never sold it x numbers of years ago" stories, that it's scared me into not ever selling any of my toys. Enjoy!!
