Citizens For The United States Constitution

Citizens For The Constitution is a group formed for Americans who value their Constitutional rights. We have seen our rights eroded over the years while our elected officials do what is in their best interest. We want to stand up for our rights and let our voices be heard before we lose the right to do so. We are forming a citizens protest at the National Mall in Washington DC on July 26th, 2009. This is a peaceful gathering to remind our elected officials of our nation’s core values.

"What we believe,
We, The Citizens for the Constitution believe that the US Constitution is a sacred document. We believe that not only is it the rules that keep a federal government from being oppressive, we believe that both political parties in this nation, with few exceptions, have, as a whole, forgotten the basic principles of our Constitution and must be reminded of what these representatives have sworn to uphold.

The Constitution of the United States represents the contract between the Republic and its citizens. This body of law, and it is law, to be enforced by the People on the government in times of usurped power, represents the fountainhead from which all other law grows. The politicos of both parties, legislative, judicial and executive, are sworn to uphold this body of law. They have not merely forgotten the Constitution. They are all doing their level best to ignore it. And that applies to just about everybody in both parties. If the Constitution falls, the entire body of law falls with it. The contract is broken, and the citizen is not any longer beholden to the government which has broken it. To transgress against the Constitution is treason. Historically, the punishment for treason is death, as it was for the Rosenbergs, and for Lincoln's assassins.

We believe that our Constitution is not a living document that can be transformed into a radical agenda, no matter which party holds the mantle of power in any branch of government. The Constitution clearly spells out the responsibilities of each branch of the government of our Republic and there is no loose translation that is open to interpretation. We uphold the simple principle that Congress makes laws, the Executive branch signs and enforces laws, and the Judicial branch administers laws.

This is the case, though each branch has meddled into the workings of the other. This attempt to justify transgression has led to the blather about the Constitution being a "living document". This is not the case as we see it.

We believe that The Bill of Rights are not rights given to the citizens of this Republic by government. Rather, The Bill of Rights are amendments to the Constitution with which the citizens of this Republic can check the power of government. In short, government does not give these rights to its citizenry; we use these rights as a balance to check the aggressive nature of government.

These rights predate the Constitution. They predate the British Crown. Indeed, they predate the tablets of Moses. These rights are given us by that Higher Power which created the world, and the Bill of Rights holds them to be inviolate. They are not to be infringed. The Second Amendment, in particular, has been bent all out of shape, starting with the Firearms Act of 1934, continuing through GCA '68, and every other act controlling what a citizen can or can't have, anywhere in the country. The First Amendment, with reference to religion, has been similarly bent.

We, the Citizens for the Constitution, do not endorse any political office holder or candidate. Quite the contrary, it is the function of office holders and candidates to uphold the Constitution, which they have sworn to protect, therefore, we encourage their endorsement of us."

I'm on board! I know I won't be able to make the trip on July 26th though. The 27th will be my mother's 87th birthday. We'll be having company coming and what not. Sorry 'bout that....
