I just noticed that on the ca doj website that the S-A1 in .40 s&w
is on the approved handgun list with the exp date 2/8/2008
Does that mean that Steyr will be getting those out soon???
Or is that just in case they get around to it this year, they are coverd?

    Hi XJrat,

link appears to be broken - here's a copy of the info.
interesting... if it isn't a typo, it suggests that someone in CA has had an S40-A1 in hand for testing.

Yeah, that's been that way for some 3-4 months now. I remember seeing those S9-A1's a few months back wishing they made the CA DOJ list, but alas, only S40-A1's made the list. Here in Cali You can only purchase original M & S Steyr models that are in California already. That cuts out roughly 98% of the ones from 49 other states sold on-line.

    Hi MrBonna,

I wish I could help you on this one... I have been looking to buy a "S" since it was on CA list for a long time now, but no luck. All the dealers I know can't get one. Go figure? :(

    Cheers!

Thanks Squirrel, Sorry about the link but that is the info on the site.
I would love an S-a1 in .40. So should I start saving now and when they
do become availible I may be able to afford it, after I sell a kidney that is!

    Hi mugdava

I just bought an M40-A1, through GunBroker.com. The seller was in Ohio, and I used a local gun dealer here in SoCal to receive it for me. No problems at all. I know that CDNN won't ship handguns to CA, but there are definitely some that will. Unless you were refering to guns already on the CA DOJ approved list. FYI only.

    Hey Dag!

Original M & S series, not M-A1 & S-A1 series. Notice that none of "The Original" M & S series pistols are on the CA DOJ list, the only way to purchase one would be from a private party transfer inside California. Any of the four Steyr pistols currently on the list can be purchased from out of state.
