Brass debris from Winchester Ammo

After approx 450 rounds of Winchester Active Duty over 2 range trips, M9 A2 looked like a gold glitter bomb had gone off inside it. I have about 2000 rounds of other ammo thru it previously with absolutely nothing. I'll also add that my sister was with me on the second range trip shooting about 150 rounds thru her Shield Plus, which also had brass debris in it tho not as bad as my Steyr. Am I making a big deal out of nothing? I have contacted Winchester but I'm not holding my breath that they will do anything as they have not responded further after asking me to send pics to them. The kick in the ass is I have another 900 rounds I wont use for fear of causing damage to my gun.

You should be good to burn that ammo just wipe it down after each session. If you have an air compressor that would be helpful too. Brass is pretty soft your moving parts are steel. I had that happen too just don’t remember er the brand of ammo. Didn’t notice until I cleaned it after the competition. No malfunctions.
Thanks for the reply...I neglected to mention in initial post that I had the first malfunctions/jams ever using this ammo...4 maybe 5 times...this is another reason I dont trust this ammo even if it is just range practice ammo......my plan is to run a couple hundred rounds of the previous brand of ammo on my next range trip and see if this happens again..the pictures really dont reflect the massive amount of debris I removed from my pistol it would easily pile up into the size of a pencil eraser or more....it was a lot
Oh yeah that changes things. Seems like a qc issue for sure with the ammo.

I would shoot a few more rounds of the Winchester and try to keep track of the ejected cases if you are able to collect them to see how much was shaved off compared to other ammo you have, I am thinking the Winchester sent out a batch with oversized casings.

Do a good clean of the pistol. remove and check the extractor for brass buildup.

what are you using for oil? machinist cutting fluid?
want to minimize the brass flakes polish breach face and the bottom of the slide. particularly the two sharp lines right and left of firing pin. DO NOT POLISH EXTRACTOR!

recommend some felt polishing wheel and gunsmith polish. want a fine smooth finish. could remove some finish. My experience with steyr slides on m9/m40 the breach face should have a smooth glass like finish when done. you dont want to remove much .000x" and finer. polish the feedramp on barrel too. clean it first then polish. want everything butter get spray dry teflon. you can polish it and it will get into surface of metal and operate like butter. check magazines are cleaned and lubed lightly. old steyr mags used to come with a gold grease and was tough to clean.

its caused by the two protruding prongs of metal riding over brass casing. didnt affect reloading of brass for me. may want to remove the metal frame from polymer to clean out polymer of brass. magwell can get some near mag release inside. usually a buildup of carbon in that area.
