It's an excellent option, as is the Leupold Scout.

I use my scout for everything, so I mounted a Zeiss 3-12x56, illum 60 reticle, with the ballistic turret on QD mounts. I had major issues with the factory installed rear pop up sight so I also mounted a Troy HK pop up front sight and have a QD A2 adjustable rear sight. I forgot the manufacture of the rear sight. I have shot 1 - 1.25 inch grouping at 300 meters with this scope

I have the Leupold Scout scope on Warne QD mounts and interchange it with a fixed 6x scope for some hunting scenarios, or a Leupold MR/T 3-9 scope for other applications.

The scout scope is great for a general purpose rifle, but I find I can get more long-range precision with a bit more magnification.

Weidmanns Heil - I love the idea of decent BUIS on the scout - I've never liked the issue iron sights (too low for my physiognomy), but never thought of after market!! - Brilliant.

Thank you, it has been very useful during the ever changing hunting environments I face. I go from chamois hunting in the Alps (300+ meters) to drive hunts with engagement ranges on wild boar of 50yds or less. Its nice to pop off the Zeiss scope, mount rear A2 sight and I'm ready.
