    Hi Guys :)

I just finished West01's post about the holster on Collateral. Good movie! And that got me to wonderin' what everyone else considers a good shoot 'em up, in modern times. One that I watch, like ever time it comes on, is Equilbrium, with Christian Bale.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0238380/

Its kinda futuristic, but not too far in the future and has the Big Brother theme and his ninja/gunslinger LEO's. The last 5 minutes of this movie rocks and is an adrenalin pumpin' SOB! I love it! So, I was just wonderin', anyone else gotta movie like that they can turn me on to? Maybe a whole list of 'em. Course, I've seen a lotta action movies cause I'm really notta Opera watcher and home improvment shows bore me to fu*kin' tears. Anyway, just thought this may be a good way to find somethin' off the beaten path for me to enjoy. If ya haven't seen Equilibrium, next time it's on, give 'er a go. Justa thought. <shrug> Cya. :)

Equilibrium is an AWESOME movie... my friend just gave me a copy a couple weeks ago. I can give you a list of things in my collection that will satisfy your lust for guns.

The Matrix - if you haven't seen this, there is something wrong with you. Go buy it today.
The Corruptor - I think it's one of those $5 double feature deals at Best Buy. There are several intense gunfights.
    Terminator 1, 2, and 3 - 'nuff said
3000 Miles to Graceland - Elvis impersonators robbing a casino in Vegas, great action film.
Cobra - Not as recent as some of the other titles listed here, but it's awesome. The villain gets a good beating at the end ;)
Lucky # Slevin - not a lot of shoot-em-up stuff, but it is a GREAT film with some very dark elements, great story.

Check those out, and if they're not enough I have more

Man...I guess I don't get out very often. Wulf, I'm going to check out your recommendation. I heard a lot of good thinks about this flick.

This is maybe considered as an oldy by now but my favorite "bang bang" movie is Bill Friedkin's 1985 "To Live and Die in L.A.". This is a fascinating movie that change the rules about cops & robbers genre. At worst considered it great black comedy.

    Cheers!

    Leon the Professional (Highly Recommended!!!)
    Tears of the Sun
    Running Scared
    The Bourne Identity series

Lord of War gets honorable mention - not a lot of gunplay, but it's a great movie and firearms are the primary topic.

Also, zombie movies are worth mentioning...

    Dawn of the Dead (remake)
    Shawn of the Dead
Resident Evil series (first one was cool, the second one is not so good IMHO...)
Silent Hill has a real nice Sig...

    Collateral is king IMHO.

Alright ya got me there, not all shoot 'em ups are 'bout the guns. Some times its about "Truth".

If you want all out bloodbath, it'd probably be "Running Scared".

For good movies that happened to involve lots of guns...
    Heat
    Boondock Saints
Die Hard (the first especially IMO)
The end of "The Departed" (anyboody else feel like they ran out of time instead of script?)

Lots of good choices here for modern gun violence in the movies.

Haven't seen A History of Violence mentioned yet. Which was one of the better films of the past couple of years. Not something you want to watch with the kids. But has some DVD extras talking about the gun choices and Cronenberg's preference for the real thing.

oh, and in the possible future genre, who can forget the wacky fun of RoboCop.

Haven't seen Collateral yet, so that one has definitely moved onto my must see list.

I must also add one that made it under my radar for awhile till someone recommended it to me....

...then I was like, "How did I not see this?????"

    I would be referring to

The Long Kiss Goodnight [Geena Davis, Samuel L Jackson]

    GREAT flick

Oldie but goldie, Red Dawn, or "What to do when the Russians and Cubans invade." Patrick Swayze before he learned to dance and got famous. Real feel-good, patriotic shoot 'em up.

And another oldie (all I know is oldies) is Lawrence of Arabia. Englishman Peter O'Toole goes to Arabia to show Arabs how to blow up trains and kill bunches of people with machine guns, pistols and knives. How ironic is that?
