Hi there!
Until recently, all military style semi-auto weapons were illegal here in Austria. But now we have the Sig 552. Steyr AUG-Z and Oberland Arms OA15A. I got the later two, but LOVE my Steyr AUG-Z (customized with cut & reprofiled barrel). You can't imagine how lucky I was to add this to my gun collection:

yodeling greetings from behin the alps

Believe me, if you knew Austrian gun laws, YOU would be glad for your US ones!! But all gun laws suck, I guess...
The Aimpoint 3x behind the Aimpoint M2 gives you QD magnification. Its great for guys who shoot 80% close quarters, but want to be able to zoom in occasionally.

SIG 550s and Steyr AUGs are not available in the US (can't import them).

The few of each that where brought into this country before the import bans, are extremely expensive (AUGs go for $3000+, 550s go for over $10,000).

Keep in mind that an AR-15 can be had for under $1000.

I would seriously consider giving up a testicle for a SIG 552.

Also, your AUG has a short barrel ... that would be verboten in many parts of the US (minimum is 16" or 40.64cm) and expensive in the parts of the country you can have short barreled rifles ($200 tax, 6 month wait for paperwork, and registration of the gun in a country that isn't supposed to have gun registration).

So while I'm sure your gun laws suck there, you still have access to some hardware most of us Americans can only dream of.

Its a 16" which was contured so that the weight of the bull barrel is gone. IMHO the bull barrel balances like shit. Steyr is considering featuring 16" AUG-Z carbines, but my fellow European shooters need to e-mail them, so that they know there is a huge demand!

You have great taste in weapons!

The AUG-Z looks amazing and I'd love to be able to purchase one here in the United States. I can see the advantage to having both those scopes and it looks very cool.

Is it possible you could put up some pictures of targets after shooting the AUG-Z? I'd love to see and hear how the AUG-Z performs compared to your AR carbine.
