I have a standard SSG04 chambered in .308. It is superb at the target range. Has anyone here on the forum ever hunted with one?

I do with my Ssg08-A1 . It's heavy but I know if I see it I'm going to hit it.

Thanks for your response! Do you shoot offhand with it? What do you hunt with it and which ammo are you using?

185gr BTHP Mach gold metal berger.
Deer, Hogs, Coyotes ,
From 50 meters too 1k
I shoot freehand, with the bipod , and I used a Andy's leather sling to engage on the move ,just like if you were using a Steyr scout rifle.

Depends on what type of hunting you do.
That ain't no stalking rifle, but, if your sitting on a pasture or shooting across flats, why not?
I prefer a scout but I hunt in upstate SC where you can't see a hundred yards till mid December anyplace but the golf courses.

I agree. I'm over here in No. Georgia in what I'm sure is very similar terrain. Maybe I'll try it out from a blind one of these days.

Might have to pick up a Tikka T3x Lite for the stalking.
