A few years ago CDNN sold 9mm slide/barrel conversions for the MA1. Anyone know where I could get one these days? Might anyone have one they would sell?

Hi xthexheadx,
as you were writing about the differences, I was talking with SAI and verified your post. They're trying to get conversions but not yet. He also said a slide/barrel might be nearly as much as a new pistol. I'd just go with a new 9mm MA1 but the Socialist Republic of Kalifornia makes it cost prohibitive for Steyr to sell them here due to our Dept. of Injustice bull$#!t "safety test". Kalifornia also requires an LCI which I understand is no longer produced.

that is right, newer imports have no LCI and Kalifornia sure killed any opotunity for it's citizens to get more... how much would you be willing to put down on a slide/barrel/mag setup ?
you could get a dealer to sell you the parts from one of the Pre-2011 models that are going for so cheap now....

I thought the extractor wouldn't reach the 9mm rim. I'll look into that.

Thanks 73sbVert.
No prob! Like I said, mine works perfectly!

the slides ARE DIFFERENT, you will need a slide as well....
the weight of the slide is different ( 9mm has a groove milled out of the underside to reduce weight) and the hole of the barrels are different, being larger for the .40....
On the advice from SAI, I didn't need to change anything on mine other than the barrel and the mags. The slide fits right over the barrel (external dimensions almost the same), didn't even need to change the spring. Works fine.

 Maybe mine is speshul?? :D

Irska - I have a complete 9mm slide, barrel, (MA-1 series) and 3 mags (15 rds sorry) that I bought from SC member jbabb here a few years ago to shoot atop my M357 & M40. I've since started reloading 40 so no need for the 9mm any longer. PM me if interested.

Hey all, I'm posting this here to thank xthexheadx with "http://practicaltacticalky.com/about.php" for all of his help in putting together a 9mm slide, barrel and hard to find 9mm magazines for me to go to Front Sight with. I won't give details about the deal because it would be unfair to set a precendent for xthexheadx to repeat. I'll just say that he did a lot of footwork and found just what I needed for a very fair price. Xthexheadx proved to be a very nice guy who really likes to give his support to a fellow steyroid.

Thanks again mate.

That was awesome and I just want to add, you do not need a slide with LCI to be compliant with CA gun law. LCI is for manufacturer to qualify on roster, not require for individual owners.
