I recieved a couple M9 15-round mags from CDNN. They are marked 14 rounds on the mag but plastic wrap has a label that confirms this is a 15. My mags included with the pistol say 15. Whats up with this? Did I get the right mags?
Yes, thats how mine are too. They hold 15 rounds but the window only goes up to "14". You can still fit the 15th in there without any problems. Also, if yours came in the same condition as mine, there is a dried up sticky oil on the outside of the mags. Clean it off by spraying some Rem-oil or other gun lubricant on a rag and wipe them down. If you dont, you'll find it a little sticky when trying to insert the mag into the pistol.
For those that care, the "sticky stuff" is Cosmoline, a chemical that protects against rust and water damage during long storage periods... ....because knowing is half the battle.
Anyone got pictures of what the M9 looks like with a 15-round mag in it? I'm curious I don't think the mags are legal here in California, though...democrats piss me off :x
check out syntax 360's v1-v3.0 picture links (4 posts up) for some great photos of a well equipped 9mm Steyr
The 10, 14, and 15 rnd mags should all look identical inside the pistol. I've only handled the low-cap's once, but I recall half the mag was taken up by a large plastic block/spacer. Even the Wulf custom 17 rounder looks almost identical to stock in the pistol (floor plate is slightly different). The 18 round custom protrudes ~1/8" and is barely noticable - if the body wasn't shiny silver instead of Steyr factory black, one probably wouldn't even notice if they were looking or it. I know I have posted a picture or two of my Steyr equipped with the Wulf 18 rounder and no one noticed...
