  1. M, C, L and S Series
Hi there, as the title says, the edge of the feed ramp of my M9A1 (Frankensteyr) just broke (it's a small piece) but the gun is only 4,000 rounds give or take a few hundred. And living where I do, it's nearly impossible to get a new barrel. Also the paperwork for getting a new barrel is hell...
  2. M, C, L and S Series
I just got a spare barrel in from a trade; its barrel serial is 30477XX. My first Steyr, and the one I shoot the most/all the time is an M9 and the barrel serial starts with a 0 as the first digit. I eyed the replacement when it came in and something looked different. Compared it to my old...
  3. M, C, L and S Series
Does this seem normal to you guys? This is a loaded gun with only a slight amount of pressure put on the front of the slide. It will hold back and stay held back. This gun was mfg. November of 2012. The trigger is also 7lb 11oz average by my lyman digital scale. What's up with this thing?
  4. M, C, L and S Series
Is this normal? Before I stir up a storm with the on-line guy from whence this gun came, I thought I'd ask you guys I just received, today, my "new" M9-A1 Steyr pistol NIB, still had factory grease on rails, etc. but . . unlike any other pistol I've ever purchased (and I have Glocks...
  5. M, C, L and S Series
Does anyone know what accessories for a Glock can fit nicely on the Steyr M series?
  6. New Member Check-In
Okay I have looked through the form and couldn't find any info, I just added a S40-A1 to my family. the first thing that I noticed was the Mag release is so hard I have to rotate the gun in my hand to get it in a position to create enough presser to release it. is there anyway to lighten the...
  7. M, C, L and S Series
Hey guys, I'm new to the steyr world and just recently to her to the range. I bought reloads that looked super clean, but the Steyr just did not like them. The casing weren't totally ejecting and I had to pull the unfired round that was butted up to the shell. Scary stuff!! I'm also very new to...
  8. Caracal C and F Series
I took my new Caracal C to the range on Sat. I was disappointed to experience 3 malfunctions, out of 363 rds fired. All the issues were with WWB 115 gr FMJ's. The 1st malf was a failure to eject, while shooting 2 handed. Things where fine for awhile and the 2nd malf was a failure to feed, while...
  9. Caracal C and F Series
Hi, I can't seem to find one to look at in real life :( Can anyone post/point me to a feed ramp/chamber support pic? Just curious. Thanks!
  10. M, C, L and S Series
I've been doing some digging in other threads and have found I am not alone. I came home after shooting it the first time and cleaned the mags and the weapon really well. I went back out on limited time and fired another 30 shots and had quite a few more FTFs. I have noticed one or two FTEs...
  11. Ask Bubits
has anybody heard anything about Caracals in 40 or 357 Sig? are they out in other countries besides the U.S.? in production yet?
  12. M, C, L and S Series
Hi guys, Hopefully you can point me in the right direction to resolving this. I (finally) shot some Ranger JHP through the M40 and I'm a bit upset. This is supposed to be my "go to" gun and home defense weapon, but I can't put more than 2 rounds down without a failure to feed. Seems that the...
  13. AUG, MSAR
Just wanted to post an FYI for those of you (like me) who missed the Sabre Defence Industries version of the AUG A3, and who also don’t want to pay $3,500 for a “collectors weapon” on Gunbroker that was probably purchased for under $1,500. The point is that recently I have been in contact with...
  14. M, C, L and S Series
Hey guys i just purchased a new steyr m9a1 the other day. Its a 2nd gen with a date code of vwo (nov 2010). So it does not have the LCI, and it has the roller pin on the slide below the sights. My first question is when did they start coming with steel guide rods? Mine came with the plastic...
  15. Industry News
When browsing a copy of Shotgun News at my local grocery store, I was pleased to note that there was a two-page, full color glossy spread from Steyr USA, showing the new M-series pistol, some bolt-action rifles, including the Scout, and some other things. This was the August 1 issue, which is...
  16. Ammunition and Reloading
I noticed a few members posting about good experiences with the Lancer ammo...I saw that Midway sells this ammo in 38 & 45...so I sent customer service an email requesting to have midway carry the 9mm ammo. I get dealer discounted prices through midway, so I am hoping that they will start to...
  17. Maintenance / Tweaks / Technical Difficulties / So
With the 'extra' cleaning recommended for the M9 from CDNN that's coming soon, which product do you recommend? Hoppes #9, Gunscrubber, Simple Green, Breakfree; all of the above; anything else? I want to give 'er a darn good cleaning w/o ruining the polymer. Forgot to mention: I usually clean...
  18. M, C, L and S Series
Ran about 300 rounds through the M40 yesterday and at approximately rnd 250 or so I had a failure to feed. I was using WWB 180gr fmj ammo. It was easy to clear and I fired the rest of my ammo without incident. What I noticed when clearing the round was that the feed ramp was incredibly dirty...
  19. M, C, L and S Series
Well, me old dad (you know him as DocChronos) is finally threatening to clean his M9. We have rather different opinions on cleaning our guns. He decided not to clean his M9 until he ran 1000 rounds through it, because "A tactical pistol should be able to function dirty!" I, on the other hand...
