  1. M, C, L and S Series
I just picked up my first Steyr pistol from Cabela's in Owatonna, Minnesota - an M9-A1. I actually traded my Sig P229 .40 S&W for the M9. Date code is LWR - Feb 2013, so fairly new production. I came across the Steyr after researching the Caracal and learned that they were designed by the same...

Had my choice between a "very new" M9-A1 (3 10 round mags w/box), and a used M40-A1. Picked the .40, SMI import, s/n 04708x. 2 12 round mags, no box. What do I need to know? Right choice? Thanks in advance! Gary Semper Fi Semper Fi - Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I thought about picking up an M9-A1 a few years ago, but held off because of the problems I was reading about. Mostly FTF and ejection issues. I haven't read about any problems in a while. Are the new manufacture M9-A1s good to go?

Hi there, My eldest daughter loves my M40-A1 but does not like the recoil. So this weekend she bought an 2004 M9 at the local gun show. We took it home and I showed her how to clean and lube it. We fired it at the range today. She loves it, but with all three mags. the slide would not lock open...

I recently acquired a new S9-A1 which was manufactured in 09/2012. The firing pin spring was coated with some sort of red lubricant paste. Does anyone know exactly what it is? FWIW, I put it's first 200 rounds (Federal 115 grain FMJ RN) through it last week. With the exception of shooting a bit...

Like the title of the thread says, I've got a blind date with a March 2013 production Steyr M40-A1. I have never even so much as held one, but that didn't keep me from ordering one today. I'm super excited and I'm anxious to get to know this pistol. One area that I seek knowledge in is...

I have just bought a Steyr M-A1. I have alot more long gun experience than pistol experience but that is about to change! I am a very tall guy with huge hands. The M-A1 was the 9mm that fit my paws the best. I hope to fire the pistol this weekend.

Hi there, I have some trouble with all my 5 mags. They tend to get a coat of rust after 2 or 3 days before cleaning them. It is kind of annoying having to clean them so often. I have tried from Hoppes 9 to Frog lube to Seal 1 and it is the same with everything. Any advice?? Thanks in...

on the inside of the frame and complete trigger assembly. I know it is also a degreaser. After the full cleaning where will I re lubricate within the frame and trigger assembly?

Just picked up my M9A1 today and have some questions. 1. When I release the mag catch lever the slide comes forward and hits the mag, becoming stuck. When I hit mag lever down with some force(like some people do to load their pistols) the slide did finally go forward, but this isn't something I...

Use only non-linting materials to clean the striker or firing pin channel in actually any weapon. Lint can cause light strikes by itself, and with dirt, it can really muck things up. Coffee filters or Chem-X filters are non-woven materials which will clean well and not leave fibers behind. Cut...

So I have been a fan of Steyr for the last few months even though i didn't actually have one in my hand to really be part of the club. Well I finally got my Ma1 40 last night. First impression... AWESOME! Best feeling gun I own!!! I absolutely freaking LOVE it! I loved the Trap sights too...

New guy here with a question. Do you guys use gun oil or grease when you lube the bolt and bolt rails? I just got an M95 carbine and i'm in the process of disassembling and cleaning it. Thought I had seen somewhere to use grease to lube the bolt but can't remember. Thanks! Mike

Hello all. I'm new to Steyr, the forum, and to gun ownership! My Steyr m9-a1 is my first gun. (third if you count BB guns when I was a kid) I went to the range with it and three boxes of ammo and had a really good time. I pulled the trigger 150 times and each time the gun fired, the brass was...

Hello everyone.....first time poster here. Due to the experience I've had with the Sig Sauer P938 and a 10-15% FTE rate with my first outing at the range :wall:, I have placed a S-A1, 9mm on order with my LGS. Hopefully it serves me well!!!!

I just picked up a Steyr M9 serial no. 7xxx. I simply love this firearm. The only problem I have is the erratic ejection and an occasional casing to the face. I've ran 110 rounds so far and it's been wwb and tulammo. Is this due to these rounds being lower power? It's ate through everything...

Hi, I am having a problem with my 2002 S40. AfterI fire a live round, it seems not to go into full battery lock-up, the firing pin makes contact with the primer but not with enough force to fire the second round. If I tap the rear of the slide it then fires fine. Can anyone please tell me what...
