A few years ago M&P's had a problem with out of spec magazine releases that let mags drop out. The problem's been fixed, and anyone who still has a bum mag release can get a new one from Smith for free. It's like a 99 cent polymer part, anyway Click here to enlarge

The first time I used a Steyr it kept stovepiping with Remington UMC ammo and ejecting brass straight up so it landed on my head. I fixed the problems and still own and love my Steyr. First couple times out with my M&P, it suffered light strikes on ammo with hard primers. Again, the problem was easy enough to fix.

I guess brass on top of the head is not as bad as magazines that pop loose, so Steyr still wins. Besides we're on a Steyr form here Click here to enlarge
